Electronics and accessories: compatibility questions, specifications and what an agent can answer Free & Pro
'Does this work with my phone?' is the question agents will ask. Where compatibility and specifications must live so an agent can answer, and how cross-sells reach it.
Updated October 13, 2026
An electronics customer rarely asks "find me a cable". They ask "find me a cable that works with the laptop I bought from you last year". That is a question about compatibility, and an agent can answer it only if your product data says what fits what in words. This page is for electronics and accessory stores on WooCommerce running Agent Adapt, with facts from the plugin as it ships on 13 October 2026.
What customers will ask their assistant
- "Does this charger work with my model?"
- "Find a case for the phone in my last order."
- "What’s the warranty on the headphones I bought?"
- "Is the 1 TB version in stock?"
Specifications in text
The agent reads the title, the short description (500 characters), the full description (5,000 characters), attributes with their values, and variations. It does not read PDFs, images or tables injected by a specifications plugin from a separate source. So the facts an assistant needs, connector type, wattage, capacity, dimensions, what is in the box and which models it fits, belong in the description or in attributes. Attributes are best for the things people filter on: "Connector: USB-C", "Capacity: 1 TB", "Compatible with: iPhone 15, 15 Pro". A customer’s assistant will compare those words with what it knows about the customer’s device.
Compatibility from order history
With the customer signed in and the agent approved, it can read their past orders: item names, quantities, totals, status. "The laptop in my last order" resolves to a product name, and the agent then searches your catalogue for accessories whose descriptions name that model. There is no compatibility database in the plugin; the match is between words in your catalogue and words in the order.
Cross-sells and up-sells reach the agent
Product details include your store’s own up-sells and cross-sells, and the cart view includes cross-sells for what is in it. If you have set "this case fits this phone" as a cross-sell in WooCommerce, an agent sees that link. That is the cheapest compatibility data you can give it.
Variations: capacity, colour, region
Name them as a person would: "Capacity: 512 GB", "Colour: Space Grey", "Plug: UK". Stock is read per variation. Price ranges on variable products are reported as a range until a variation is chosen.
Warranty, returns and faults
Your returns page and terms page are sent to agents as plain text. For electronics, say the return window for change of mind, the condition (sealed, unopened), the warranty length, who to contact for a fault, and whether you handle warranty claims or the manufacturer does. With Pro, an agent can send you a return request on a completed order within your return window, which adds a note to the order and emails you; it refunds nothing until you act. A fault reported after the return window is a conversation, not an operation; say on the page how to start one.
Pre-orders and discontinued products
A product that is not purchasable is reported as such and cannot be added. Pre-order plugins that make a product purchasable before stock arrives are untested through the agent API; say the expected date in the description either way. Discontinued products you keep for reference should be hidden, and hidden products are never served to agents.
What to set up
- Model compatibility in attributes or the description text, with model names spelled as customers would say them.
- Cross-sells set for accessories.
- Variation names for capacity, colour and plug type.
- Warranty and fault process on the returns or terms page.
- SKUs on everything; customers reorder consumables by SKU.
Common questions
Can the agent read the manufacturer’s spec sheet PDF?
No. Only text in the product’s description and attributes is sent.
Will it know a product is region-locked?
Only if the description or an attribute says so.
Can it register a warranty for the customer?
No. The agent API covers catalogue, cart, orders and addresses. Warranty registration stays wherever it is now.
Does it see tracking numbers?
No. It reads the order’s status and the shipping method’s name. Tracking numbers from shipping plugins are not part of the API.
