Wix and personal agents: the redirect manager, Velo, and the Cloudflare route Free & Pro
Why Wix's URL redirect manager cannot publish poppy.json for the Personal Agent Protocol, why Velo does not help, the Cloudflare Worker route, and what a provider can do.
Updated October 20, 2026
Wix hosts the site, the store and the checkout, and gives the owner two tools that might matter here: a URL redirect manager, and Velo, its code platform. This page says what each can and cannot do for the Personal Agent Protocol’s discovery file, as of 16 October 2026, and is clear where we have not confirmed behaviour on a live site. Agent Adapt is a WooCommerce plugin and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Wix, Sierra or Meta.
The test
An agent fetches https://your-site.com/.well-known/poppy.json and needs JSON served on your domain, naming your domain; since 16 October 2026 a redirect to another host does not count. See Making any website agent-ready.
The URL redirect manager
Under Marketing & SEO → SEO → URL redirect manager, Wix lets you add a redirect from an old URL on your site to a new one, and the new one can be an external address. Until 16 October 2026 a redirect from /.well-known/poppy.json to a provider’s address was the thing to try. The protocol now says the document speaks for the host that serves it after any redirects, so a redirect to the provider’s host gives agents a document for that host, not yours. Whether Wix applies redirects under /.well-known/ no longer matters: the redirect manager cannot proxy a path, and it has no part in this.
Velo
Velo lets a site run back-end code and define HTTP functions, but those answer at /_functions/..., not at the root of the domain, and Velo routers decide which page a path renders rather than returning a JSON file at an arbitrary root path. As far as we can establish, Velo cannot make /.well-known/poppy.json answer. If you know otherwise and have tested it, tell us at [email protected] and we will correct this page with credit.
Cloudflare in front
If your domain’s DNS is on Cloudflare with the proxy on, a Cloudflare Worker answers the path before Wix does, whatever Wix reserves, and serves the provider’s document on your domain; the site stays on Wix. Wix supports connecting a domain by pointing (changing records at your registrar) as well as by nameservers; the pointing method is what keeps DNS at Cloudflare. Check Wix’s own guidance on using a proxy in front of a Wix site before switching the proxy on, because Wix’s SSL handling and some features assume direct connections. The Worker itself is in Serving poppy.json with a Cloudflare Worker.
What a provider can do for a Wix site
The Worker serves the document of a hosted Company that runs the issuer and agent API for your domain. For a Wix Stores shop, the provider can read products and policies from your public pages, or through Wix’s APIs with an app permission, let an agent search and build a cart, and hand the customer to your Wix checkout to pay. For a business site that is not a shop (Wix Bookings, a restaurant, a practice), the useful part of the protocol is a Company Agent that answers a customer’s assistant from your site’s content and hands off to you when it should. See Services and bookings.
Agent Adapt’s hosted Company for sites that cannot run its plugin, with the Company Agent for sites that are not shops, is built and running, in early access by email, and not yet on sale. Ask at [email protected].
What to do this month
- Fetch
https://your-site.com/.well-known/poppy.jsonand note what Wix answers. - There is nothing to set up at Cloudflare until you have a provider’s hosted document address.
- Put your prices, hours, policies and booking rules on public pages in text. Any provider reads and quotes them.
Common questions
Can a Wix app do this?
An app could run the issuer and API, but discovery still needs the path to answer on your domain, which only a proxy in front of Wix or Wix itself can arrange.
Does Wix have its own agent support?
Nothing we can cite for the Personal Agent Protocol as of this page’s date. A platform-level implementation would make the above unnecessary; we will update this page when there is one.
Is Agent Adapt available for Wix?
Not as an app. The hosted Company is built and running, in early access by email, and not yet on sale. The WooCommerce plugin is the only product you can download today.
Does the customer still pay through Wix Payments?
No. Under the protocol’s current draft the customer pays, on your checkout. The agent hands over a link.
