Jewellery and luxury goods: high-value orders, engraving, allowlists and the controls a store wants Free & Pro
A luxury store wants agents useful and under control. What the free plugin guarantees (the customer always pays on your checkout), what Pro adds, and the engraving limit.
Updated October 13, 2026
A jeweller’s first question about AI agents is not "what can they do?" but "what can I stop them doing?". The answer under the Personal Agent Protocol, as Agent Adapt implements it for WooCommerce, is that an agent can never pay, never use a staff account and never see another customer’s orders, and that with Pro the store can admit only agents it has chosen. This page is for jewellery, watch and luxury stores, with facts from the plugin as it ships on 13 October 2026.
What customers will ask their assistant
- "Find a pair of gold hoops under £400 that are in stock."
- "What size was the ring I bought last year?"
- "Can I return the bracelet? It’s been ten days."
- "Does the watch come with a warranty?"
The controls in the free plugin
- The customer pays. The agent builds a cart and hands over a single-use checkout link; a person opens it and pays on your checkout, with your payment methods and your fraud checks. Agent Adapt never handles card details.
- Staff accounts are refused. Administrator and shop manager accounts can never be connected to an agent.
- Only the customer’s own orders, with their approval, re-checked on every request. Another customer’s order and a missing order get the same 404.
- Block any agent from WooCommerce → Agents; it is refused from its next request.
- Hidden products stay hidden. A private collection set to hidden visibility is never served to agents.
See Is it safe to let AI agents into your store?.
The controls Pro adds
- Allowlist mode. Accept only agents you have ticked; every other agent is refused before it is even recorded.
- Per-agent caps. Limit a particular agent to view-only, or to signed-out shopping only.
- Actions off. Switch off paid-order cancellation with refund, return requests, or address changes.
- Refunds need approval of exact terms. An agent can only ask to cancel a paid order; the customer approves the specific amount; the store acts once. You can switch it off entirely.
See Merchant policy and Approvals for changes.
Ring sizes, lengths, metals
Variations, named as a person says them: "Ring size: M", "Length: 45 cm", "Metal: 18 ct yellow gold". Stock per variation; one-off pieces are stock of one and read as sold out once sold. The agent reads descriptions up to 5,000 characters, so hallmarks, stone details, carat weights and care instructions belong there in text. It does not read certificates or images.
Engraving and personalisation
A text field for engraving on the product page is not part of the agent API; an agent adds the product without it. Either hide engraved-only products (hidden products are never served) or let the agent send the customer to the product page, whose URL it has. See Print on demand for the same limit.
Returns, insurance and warranty
Your returns page is sent as plain text. Say the window, the condition, the exclusions (earrings for hygiene, engraved or resized pieces), how returns must be shipped and insured, and the warranty. With Pro, an agent can send a return request on a completed order within your return window; it adds a note and emails you and refunds nothing until you act.
What to set up
- Variations for size, length and metal, with SKUs.
- Stone, metal and hallmark details in description text.
- A returns page with exclusions and shipping requirements.
- Hidden visibility for private or by-appointment pieces.
- With Pro: allowlist mode if you want to admit only agents you have vetted; paid-order cancellation off if you dispatch on payment.
Common questions
Could an agent place a fraudulent order?
It cannot place an order. It builds a cart; a person pays on your checkout, through your payment provider’s checks.
Can I let agents browse but not use accounts?
With Pro, yes: cap an agent at signed-out shopping only, or set that for every agent you admit.
Does the agent see prices in other currencies?
Multi-currency plugins are untested. Prices are reported in your store’s currency as WooCommerce returns them.
Can it book an appointment?
Not through the plugin. Booking plugins have no integration. Say on your terms page how appointments are made.
